Pokémon Sleep is running a seven-day login gift from September 7 to November 9, 2026: 151 Mew Candy and 17,000 Dream Shards in total, announced on September 1. It is not a standalone freebie, it is the runway to Mewtwo's arrival in the app on September 14. Here is the day-by-day breakdown, how the two events connect, and what to actually do with the rewards in the meantime.

What is the Mew Raising Gift Event?
It is a daily login gift called the "Mew Raising Gift Event", distributed from September 7, 2026 at 3:00 a.m. to November 9, 2026 at 3:59 a.m. It hands out Mew Candy, which levels up Mew directly, and Dream Shards, the game's research currency. The Pokémon Company frames it as a commemorative gift celebrating the launch of "Unexplored Realm Research! Pursue Mewtwo", set for September 14.
Seven login days are enough to claim everything, but there is no need to log in on consecutive days: the claim window runs for two months. Logging in late simply delays progress through the seven tiers, nothing is lost as long as the deadline has not passed.
The gift, day by day
The amount rises in tiers rather than climbing evenly, with two days at 10, two days at 20, before accelerating toward the end. Here is the full progression, as published by Pokémon Sleep:

151 Candy is enough to push Mew up several levels in one go, especially for a researcher who recently met it through New Moon Day or a Snapshot Surprise mission and has not invested in it yet. The 17,000 Dream Shards are not Mew-specific: they unlock research areas, buy items at the Dream Shard shop, or raise the camp level, so they benefit the whole team.
Why does this gift land right before Mewtwo arrives?
Because Mew and Mewtwo are linked in the Pokédex as much as in the game, and Pokémon Sleep is building its September 2026 return as one story in three acts. Mewtwo, the Legendary Pokémon created in a lab from Mew's DNA, arrives on September 14 at 3:00 p.m. on Greengrass Isle, its Expert version, and Cyan Beach. The Mew gift acts as a waiting room. It starts a week before Mewtwo, ends well after his event wraps up (September 28), and gives exactly what is needed to strengthen Mew while Mewtwo is not available yet. Once both are in the research team, they share a Drowsy Power bonus of x1.1, which climbs to x1.3 for Mewtwo alone during the second week of his event (September 21-27).
How do you claim the gift in the app?
By tapping the gift box icon in the top right corner of the Pokémon Sleep main menu. It is the same motion as any other login gift in the game, no extra step required: no purchase, no minimum level, no area to unlock first.
Candy and Shards: spend now or save them?
For Mew Candy, the game's own logic does not leave much room for debate: it only benefits Mew, so using it as soon as it lands beats letting it sit in the inventory. A Mew levelled up before September 14 keeps the benefit of the shared x1.1 bonus with Mewtwo for longer, since the two Special Pokémon cannot be on the team at the same time (only Latios and Latias are exempt from that rule): better make sure whichever one is on duty is already strong.
Dream Shards are the opposite: useful everywhere, so there is no rush to spend them in a hurry. Saving them for the Mewtwo Incense or Mewtwo Biscuits exchange, available once the September 14 event starts, is just as reasonable as investing them right away in an area that is already open.
What else is going on around Mew this week?
A second event overlaps with the gift: the Mini Snapshot Surprise Missions, from August 31 at 4:00 a.m. to September 7 at 3:59 a.m. Mew photobombs Snapshot Surprise pictures taken during sleep research, with a x1.25 bonus on both Candy and Research EXP gained through those snapshots. Researchers who have not met Mew yet can encounter it through this mission; those who already have receive a Eureka Seed (Mew), useful for reworking its Main Skill, Sub-Skills, or ingredients.

In practice, the week of August 31 to September 7 stacks the photo missions AND the start of the candy gift: both run in parallel for the first three days. A researcher who opens the app daily during that window collects both without any extra effort, which explains why Pokémon Sleep timed them to overlap rather than spacing them out.
Mewtwo on September 14: type, skill and research area
Psychic type, Snoozing sleep style, Main Skill Psystrike (Berry Zone), which creates a berry zone that boosts nearby Psychic-type berries. Mewtwo appears on regular Greengrass Isle (available from the start of the game), its Expert version, and for the first time on Cyan Beach (Expert). The "Unexplored Realm Research! Pursue Mewtwo" event runs for two weeks, from September 14 to 27, with rewards claimable until October 1 at 3:59 a.m.

During the event, Mewtwo DNA is collected through sleep research and special missions, then traded for Mewtwo Incense (to unlock its various sleep styles) or Mewtwo Biscuits (+6 friendship points, automatically converted to Great Biscuits once the event ends). A weekly gift of 70 Mewtwo DNA also lands on September 14 and 21 for researchers without access to Community Research.

Mew and Mewtwo, a duo apart in the Pokédex
Mew is a Mythical Pokémon, considered the genetic ancestor of every Pokémon. Mewtwo is a Legendary Pokémon, created in a laboratory from its DNA to become a combat weapon. On a shelf rather than in a phone, that same duo exists here as laser-engraved K9 crystal: the Mew Pokéball LED on its wood stand, and the Mewtwo crystal LED Pokéball, both at €29.99. Do you have to pay to get the Mew Raising Gift?
No. Pokémon Sleep is free on iOS and Android, and this login gift needs no purchase: just open the app and tap the gift box icon between September 7 and November 9, 2026.
What happens if you miss a login day?
Nothing serious. The claim window runs for two months, well beyond the gift's seven days: a missed day simply pushes the next tier to your next login, with nothing lost.
Does Mew Candy work on other Pokémon?
No. Like every candy in Pokémon Sleep, Mew Candy only levels up Mew itself. Dream Shards, on the other hand, are a general resource that benefits the whole camp.
Can Mew and Mewtwo be on the same research team?
No, with one exception. The game only allows one Special Pokémon per team, and both Mew and Mewtwo belong to that category. Only Latias and Latios can share a team despite this rule.
Will Mewtwo still be available after September 28?
The Pokémon Company has not said yet. Past examples suggest yes: Mew can still be met every month on New Moon Day long after its own launch event, and Raikou keeps a boosted appearance rate at Greengrass Isle (Expert) long after its debut.
