Dual Fusion, the first expansion of Pokémon TCG Pocket's C Series, launches on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, which is the early hours of October 29 in Europe. It introduces dual-type cards with Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex, two boosters, a new Special Pack format and the game's second-anniversary festivities.

Almost two years to the day after the app launched, Pocket is finally touching its oldest rule: one Pokémon, one type, end of story. I went through the October 20 announcement, the trailer and every card revealed so far to separate what is confirmed from what is still unclear, with every date pinned to Pacific Time, the clock the game actually runs on.
When does Dual Fusion release in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Dual Fusion goes live on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PDT, which means October 29 at 1:00 a.m. UTC for European players. The expansion is free, as always, and ships with two boosters: one fronted by Mega Mewtwo X, the other by Pikachu.

It is the first expansion of the C Series, the one that follows the B Series closed in late September by the Deluxe Pack: Mega and its Mega Evolutions. The exact card count has not been announced as of October 22: The Pokémon Company is keeping the number for launch day, and the reference databases still show question marks.

How do dual-type cards work?
Some Dual Fusion cards display two types at the top of the card, a first since the game launched on October 30, 2024. A dual-type card benefits from effects aimed at either of its types, and hits for super-effective damage against Pokémon weak to either one.
Mega Mewtwo X ex opens the dance: Psychic and Fighting at once, a Basic Pokémon with 180 HP and a Dual Impact attack dealing 100 damage, rising to 140 when a Stadium is in play. On paper, that is a card that finds the weakness of far more opponents than a classic Psychic attacker.

Mega Greninja ex plays a different tune: Water and Darkness, 200 HP, and a 100-damage attack that stops the Defending Pokémon from retreating on the next turn. Both cards follow the Mega Evolution ex rule introduced by the B Series: three points for your opponent when they are Knocked Out, instead of two for a regular ex. The fine print on weakness interactions will have to be checked in-game on launch day.

While waiting to drop Mega Mewtwo X ex on the mat, the Mewtwo crystal Poké Ball with LED base makes the same impression on a trainer's desk: it is one of the most viewed products in our store, at €29.99.
Which cards are confirmed in Dual Fusion so far?
About a dozen cards are known before launch, including three Mega Evolution ex, two first partner Pokémon as ex cards and the three Kanto starters in special illustration versions. Here is what the announcement, the trailer and the published visuals show.
| Card | Type(s) | What we know |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Mewtwo X ex | Psychic + Fighting | 180 HP, Dual Impact: 100 damage, +40 with a Stadium in play |
| Mega Greninja ex | Water + Darkness | 200 HP, blocks the Defending Pokémon's retreat |
| Mega Dragonite ex | Dragon | Draco Meteor: 250 damage, the hardest-hitting attack revealed |
| Pikachu ex | Lightning | brand-new card with two attacks of its own |
| Mew ex | Psychic | the Mythical returns, details saved for launch |
| Fuecoco ex and Piplup ex | Fire, Water | first partners of Paldea and Sinnoh as ex cards |
| Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise | Grass, Fire, Water | illustration versions, each with its own Ability |

Community digging adds a few more names: WikiDex also lists Umbreon, the Larvitar line with Mega Tyranitar ex, Cutiefly and Ribombee, plus Scorbunny and Raboot. The full list drops when the servers open on October 28.

What is the First Partners Special Pack?
The Special Pack is a new format arriving with the C Series: it does not open with regular hourglasses but with special pack hourglasses, recharged once a week, and every opening guarantees at least one ★ card. The first one, First Partners, runs from October 31 to December 26.
Its theme speaks to every player: the starter Pokémon of all nine regions, from Kanto to Paldea. Fuecoco ex and Piplup ex shown in the announcement come from there, and it is the most accessible way to chase rare cards without touching your wallet: one opening per week, free, with a guaranteed ★ every time.

What is planned for Pocket's second anniversary?
The app turns two on October 30 and celebrates with a ticket for a booster pack guaranteed to include a ★★ card, Pikachu missions open for a full year and a ready-to-play Dragon deck, sent to everyone in the Gifts menu, built around Mega Rayquaza ex.

The Pikachu missions opened on October 20 and run until October 20, 2027: ten days of logging in are enough to walk away with booster packs containing nothing but Pikachu cards, new accessories and a Pikachu ex immersive-art card exclusive to the event. That is the kind of reward I would not skip: it will not come back.

The free elite deck lines up Mega Rayquaza ex with Dragonair and Gouging Fire. The emerald dragon has had its signature card since the Ruler of the Skies expansion released in late July, and for trainers who prefer it in a display case, the Mega Rayquaza crystal Poké Ball with 3D engraving makes it levitate above an LED base for €29.99.
The full festivities calendar, in Pacific Time, the game's reference clock:

What does the C Series change going forward?
According to the Producer Letter published on October 16, expansions will move from a roughly four-week rhythm to roughly six weeks after Dual Fusion. The team owns the slowdown: giving players time to complete their collections, and filling the gap with more missions and events.
The B Series chained eleven releases in eleven months, from its first booster in late October 2025 to the Deluxe Pack: Mega in September 2026, by Pokezentrum's count. At that pace, even daily players were running behind their collections. The C Series also promises immersive cards earnable through missions, community decks you can rebuild with your own cards, and easier trading with a wishlist and missing-card tracking. All of this is still in development, so details may move before it ships.
See you on October 28 for the first packs, or at a more reasonable hour the next morning. Until then, if your favorite Pokémon shine brighter on a shelf than on a screen, the light-up Poké Ball collection engraves the same monsters in crystal, Mewtwo and Rayquaza included.
