The 2026 Harvest Festival plays out in two acts in Pokémon GO: Applin Picking from Tuesday, September 29 to Monday, October 5, then the Team GO Rocket takeover from October 2 to 5, with Shadow Zekrom debuting as Giovanni's new prize. One single GO Pass ties both together, and you'll want to understand it before day one.

What are the Harvest Festival 2026 dates in Pokémon GO?
Harvest Festival 2026: Applin Picking runs from Tuesday, September 29 at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, October 5, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Harvest Festival: Taken Over overlaps it, from Friday, October 2 at 12:00 a.m. to Monday, October 5 at 8:00 p.m. GO Pass rewards stay claimable until Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 p.m.
| Event | Dates | What debuts |
|---|---|---|
| Applin Picking | Tuesday, September 29, 10:00 a.m. to Monday, October 5, 8:00 p.m. | Shiny Applin, apples on Mossy Lure Modules |
| Team GO Rocket takeover | Friday, October 2, midnight, to Monday, October 5, 8:00 p.m. | Shadow Zekrom, Shiny Shroodle, 3 new Shadow species |
| GO Pass reward deadline | Wednesday, October 7, 8:00 p.m. | Last call to claim everything |
The autumn calendar leaves no room to breathe: the Charmander wearing Friede's goggles event already keeps trainers busy from September 16 to 22, and Applin Picking kicks off one week later. Two short windows back to back, so pick your evenings wisely.
What does Applin Picking include?
Applin Picking brings Shiny Applin to Pokémon GO for the first time and turns Mossy Lure Modules into apple trees: during the event they only attract Tart Apples, Sweet Apples, Syrupy Apples, and themed encounters such as Cottonee wearing a flower crown. A free Timed Research offers three paths, one per apple type.

Out in the field, spawns revolve around Skwovet, Lechonk, Smoliv and Applin, with boosted odds of running into Shiny Smoliv. Applin's Shiny form is worth the hunt for collectors: the red apple turns golden green, and the whole line follows, from Flapple all the way to Hydrapple.

A Dragon-type worm hiding inside an apple, someone had to think of it. At Pokéled we have a soft spot for the original Grass starters: the Bulbasaur crystal LED Poké Ball puts the bulb starter on your desk, 3D-engraved inside the crystal, and this one is guaranteed worm-free.
What changes with the Team GO Rocket takeover on October 2?
From Friday, October 2 at midnight, Team GO Rocket crashes the Harvest Festival: Grunts show up more often at PokéStops and in balloons, Sierra, Cliff and Arlo field new lineups, and three species turn Shadow for the first time, Shadow Wimpod, Shadow Fomantis and Shadow Sandygast.
The other debut is quieter and hides in Eggs: Shiny Shroodle arrives via hatching, a first, according to Pokémon GO Hub through the 12 km Eggs dropped by Team GO Rocket Leaders. Its evolution Grafaiai follows in Shiny form. Slugma fans get their share too, with boosted Shiny odds among the volcanic spawns of this leg, between Koffing, Numel and Magmar.

Two bonuses deserve a note. Shadow Pokémon caught in 1-star and 3-star Shadow Raids will roll better stat ranges. And above all, a single Charged TM will let a Shadow Pokémon forget Frustration: that window only opens a few days a year, and players sitting on elite Shadows wait for it every time. Stock your TMs in advance.
How do you get Shadow Zekrom?
Shadow Zekrom has to be rescued from Giovanni: progress through GO Pass: Harvest Festival to receive a Super Rocket Radar, then track down the boss, who only lurks at PokéStops during the takeover. The window is tight, October 2 to 5, four days to get it done.

Here is the detail that changes everything: the GO Pass starts with Applin Picking, on September 29. Wait until October 2 to start playing and you'll be scrambling up ranks while everyone else is already planting their Super Rocket Radar. Play the first week, even ten minutes a day, and the radar lands on its own. According to Pokémon GO Hub, this GO Pass is now the only way to earn a Super Rocket Radar, the old Special Research routes no longer hand one out. Note that the announcement mentions no Shiny form for this Shadow Zekrom, and that Giovanni is holding his first dragon of the Tao trio after months spent with Shadow Reshiram.
A dragon that generates its own lightning remains the Electric type's best calling card. If sparks fly, the Pikachu crystal LED Poké Ball plays on the same field, the electric mouse engraved in crystal with 16 LED colors underneath, for 29.99 EUR.
Can Shadow Zekrom be fused with Kyurem?
No, and that is the event's big trap. The announcement spells it out: "Shadow Pokémon and Purified Pokémon cannot be fused with other Pokémon". The Shadow Zekrom rescued from Giovanni will never produce a Black Kyurem, even after purification.

As a reminder, fusion arrived in Pokémon GO at GO Tour: Unova on March 1 and 2, 2025: Black Kyurem calls for one Kyurem, one Zekrom, 1,000 Fusion Energy and 30 Candy of each. If that colossus is in your plans, hold on to a regular Zekrom caught in 5-star raids, and treat Shadow Zekrom for what it is: a collector's piece with a fearsome offensive profile, since Shadows hit harder on attack. Both copies live happily in the same roster, each with its own job.
How much does GO Pass: Harvest Festival cost?
The base GO Pass is free and activates with the event: just play to climb ranks. According to Leek Duck, the Super Rocket Radar does sit on its reward track, no purchase needed. Two paid versions exist, the Deluxe GO Pass at 4.99 dollars and the Deluxe with 6 bonus ranks at 6.99 dollars.
In the app's euro pricing, recent events showed 5.49 EUR and 7.99 EUR for those two tiers, prices noted by MargxT during September's Horizons event. The free ranks carry real perks: from rank 1, caught Applin hold apples more often, at rank 10 Mossy Lure Modules last a full hour, and at rank 20 Team GO Rocket drops extra Stardust. My weekend-player verdict hasn't moved since the Horizons event: the free Pass is plenty, Shadow Zekrom included. Keep your 8 euros, and above all claim everything before Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 p.m., after which the rewards vanish.
Frequently asked questions about Harvest Festival 2026
Do you have to pay to get Shadow Zekrom?
No. The Super Rocket Radar is earned by progressing through the free Harvest Festival GO Pass, according to Leek Duck's tracking. The Deluxe versions speed up rank climbing and add rewards, but no payment is required to hunt down Giovanni and rescue his Shadow Zekrom between October 2 and 5.
Can Shadow Zekrom be Shiny?
The announcement mentions no Shiny form for Shadow Zekrom, unlike the Applin and Shroodle Shiny debuts, which are confirmed in writing. Giovanni's Legendaries usually debut without their Shiny form, which sometimes arrives on a later rerun. Assume it will come in its classic colors.
Will purifying Shadow Zekrom make it fusable?
No, and it is counter-intuitive. The announcement excludes both Shadow and Purified Pokémon from fusion: purifying your Shadow Zekrom will not reopen the door to Black Kyurem. Fusion requires a regular Zekrom, caught in raids or during a GO Tour. The Shadow one is best kept for offense.
How do you get Shiny Shroodle?
Only through hatching during the takeover, October 2 to 5: it is its Shiny debut in Pokémon GO, via the 12 km Eggs earned by beating Team GO Rocket Leaders according to Pokémon GO Hub. Once hatched, a Shiny Shroodle can evolve into a Shiny Grafaiai. Outside that window, no Egg guarantees it.
When does Harvest Festival 2026 end?
Both legs stop at the same time, on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Rewards unlocked in the GO Pass remain claimable until Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 p.m. After that deadline, unclaimed ranks and an unused Super Rocket Radar disappear along with the event.
Where do you find a regular Zekrom for fusion?
In 5-star raids, during the rotations that regularly bring Unova's dragons back, and at big gatherings like GO Tour events. A raid-caught Zekrom fuses with Kyurem without restriction, for 1,000 Fusion Energy and 30 Candy of each species. Fusion Energy is earned by battling Black or White Kyurem in raids.
Between two picking sessions, if you want some light that depends on neither a radar nor a rank, our collection of light-up crystal Poké Balls stays lit all year round, 29.99 EUR apiece.
