Pokémon Champions runs two online competitions open to everyone in September 2026: the Monthly Challenge, in Single Battles from 18 to 21 September, then the 2027 Global Challenge I, in Double Battles from 25 to 28 September. Three battles are enough to receive a female Indeedee, then Archaludon, with 100 Quick Coupons each time.
Both competitions land right after Regulation Set M-C went live, and that is where this week's trap lies: several summaries still list the Monthly Challenge under the old rules. Here are the exact times, what separates the two events and what they give you.
When are the Pokémon Champions September 2026 competitions?
The Monthly Challenge runs from 02:00 UTC on Friday 18 September to 01:59 UTC on Monday 21 September. The 2027 Global Challenge I follows a week later, from 02:00 UTC on Friday 25 September to 01:59 UTC on Monday 28 September. Registration opens earlier and stays available until the very last minute.
The Pokémon Company lists every time in UTC. In the UK that is 03:00 BST, and in the United States each event actually starts the evening before: 10:00 p.m. EDT or 7:00 p.m. PDT on Thursday. These are the seventh and eighth online competitions held in the game so far.

How do you enter an online competition in Pokémon Champions?
Start the game, open the Battle menu, go to online competitions and pick the event that is running. Registration only takes a few screens, with the team you plan to use. You then need to play at least three battles during the window: below that, your results are not recorded and the reward does not arrive.
Both events use a team of six Pokémon, automatically set to level 50 during battles. The same species cannot appear twice on a team, and every held item has to be different. There is no need to train anything to level 100 for the occasion: team building matters here, not accumulated experience.
One practical detail avoids a disappointment: Monthly Challenge registration has been open since 11 September, but no battle is possible before 02:00 UTC on Friday 18 September. Registering early gives no advantage, it just means you will not forget.
Monthly Challenge or Global Challenge: what is the difference?
Format and stakes. The Monthly Challenge is played in Single Battles, with three Pokémon chosen from your team for each match, and awards no Championship Points. The 2027 Global Challenge I is played in Double Battles, four Pokémon per match, and counts towards the competitive season that leads to the 2027 Pokémon World Championships.
In the Global Challenge, Championship Points are awarded based on final ranking to Trainers in a Play! Pokémon region who have accepted the program rules and linked their Nintendo Account to the Pokémon Trainer Club. In Japan and Korea, the same event grants a place in the qualifiers instead. It is the first stop of the 2027 season for anyone aiming at Worlds.
The Monthly Challenge plays a different part: a low-pressure warm-up where your ranking only unlocks an in-game title, with tiers for the top 10, top 100, top 1,000 and top 10,000. If you want to test a team in real conditions before the Global Challenge, the calendar could not be better timed.
Which rules apply, Regulation M-B or M-C?
Regulation Set M-C, for both events. M-B ended on 9 September 2026, the day M-C came into force, and M-C stays active until 2 December. If you read "Regulation M-B" for the Monthly Challenge, it is a typo: the list of eligible Pokémon contains exactly what M-C added.
The giveaway is the list of allowed Mega Evolutions. Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z, Mega Absol Z, Mega Salamence, Mega Golisopod and Mega Baxcalibur were not legal under M-B, so their presence on the Monthly Challenge list settles the question. Lucario and Garchomp are also the two names you are most likely to face this month. Both exist as night lights too, engraved in 3D inside a Lucario LED Poké Ball on a wooden stand or a Garchomp crystal LED Poké Ball, a nice way to keep a souvenir of the season on your desk.

How good are the female Indeedee and Archaludon?
Both have a clear role, and both are legal under Regulation Set M-C. The female Indeedee, a Psychic and Normal type, has earned its spot in Double Battles as a support Pokémon. Archaludon, a Steel and Dragon type, is one of the M-C additions and already shows up in tournament teams.
These gifts matter beyond the collection. In Pokémon Champions, you normally get a Pokémon through recruiting, with its waiting time, or by transferring it from Pokémon HOME. Receiving a female Indeedee and an Archaludon for three battles each gives your teams two extra options without going through either step.
The 100 Quick Coupons from each competition point the same way. Without coupons, a new batch of recruitable Pokémon appears every 22 hours; each coupon cuts one hour from that wait. Two competitions, 200 coupons: enough to refresh your recruits much faster over the season. Can you still register for the Monthly Challenge after battles start?
